GANADORES PREMIOS EMMY 2016

El pasado domingo 18 de septiembre en los Angeles se entregaron los premios Emmy correspondientes a la temporada televisiva  2015/2016, deparando algunos premiados esperados (por ejemplo el completo arrase de "Juego de Tronos" en drama o de "American Crime Story" en las categorias de Miniserie o Película para Televisión) y unas cuantas sorpresas, principalmente en las categorías de interpretación donde salvo Jeffrey Tambor y Julia Louis Dreyfus como actores principales de comedia y Maggie Smith como actriz secundaria en drama, los premiados fueron sorprendentes y/o inesperados.

"Juego de Tronos" lo ganó básicamente todo en drama menos las categorías de interpretación (muy al estilo Mad Men) donde quizá le perjudicó los múltiples nominados que tenían y también que tenían rivales muy duros, sobre todo las chicas, que Maggie Smith es mucha Maggie Smith y su condesa viuda más.

Eso si, si lo de "Juego de Tronos" era previsible, por el contrario las victorias de Rami Malek (Mr Robot) y Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) en las categorías de actores principales en drama y la de Ben Mendelson (Bloodline) como actor de reparto en drama fueron bastante sorprendentes teniendo en cuenta contra quién competían.

Definitivamente parece que Kevin Spacey no entusiasma demasiado a los votantes porque este año era la oportunidad perfecta para darle por fin su emmy. Tiene pinta de que, o se marca un Jon Hamm y gana en la última temporada de la serie, o le va a pasar como Hugh Laurie, Martin Sheen o Steve Carell, multinominados por personajes míticos que nunca han recibido su emmy.

Por otro lado me hubiera gustado que a "Downton Abbey" le hubiera caído algún premio principal aparte del de Maggie Smith sabiendo que esta era su última oportunidad para ganarlo.

Y ojalá "The Americans" tenga más suerte en próximos años (aparte del tradicional emmy a Margo Martindale en la categoría de actriz invitada en drama) porque es una serie estupenda que ya era hora de que empezaran a reconocer.

También muy sorprendente fue el triunfo de "Sherlock" y su "La novia abominable" en la categoría de película para televisión. Adoro Sherlock pero no me deja de resultar curioso que los emmys la hayan empezado a reconocer en sus temporadas más flojas hasta la fecha cuando por ejemplo su maravillosa segunda temporada se fue de vacío. Eso si, que piense que "La novia abominable" no es lo mejor de Sherlock no quita para que me alegre mucho, muchísimo de que ganara el premio.

"Veep" ganó los premios a mejor comedia y mejor actriz de comedia otra vez (muy merecidos porque esta temporada de Veep ha sido tremenda aunque lo de cinco premios seguidos para Julia Louis Dreyfus, a pesar de lo buena que es, me parecen un poco excesivos) pero con la cantidad de nominaciones de las que partía, se quedó un poco a medias.

Por ejemplo me sorprendió mucho el premio a guión para "Master of none" (parece que Aziz Ansari va a ganar y/o ser nominado por esta serie todo lo que no le dieron por "Parks and Recreation"). Pensaba que cualquiera de los dos episodios de "Veep" o "Silicon Valley" tenían más posibilidades (aunque aquí la multinominación también pudo influir).

También me sorprendió que Tony Hale no ganara el premio a mejor actor secundario en comedia o que Allison Janney perdiera contra Kate Mackinnon.

Aunque quizá lo que más ilusión me ha hecho de estos emmys ha sido que por fin Amy Poehler tiene su emmy después de tropecientas nominaciones y ha tenido que ganarlo acompañado de otra grande, su amiga Tina Fey (que a diferencia de Poehler tiene emmys a espuertas).

Y el año que viene se va a presentar interesante porque con el final de "Downton Abbey" y que el hecho de que "Juego de Tronos" vaya a retrasar su estreno haga que no sea elegible para el próximo periodo, van a quedar unos cuantos huecos libres que habrá que ver qué series y actores van a ocupar.

IMPRESIONES EMMY 2015: LOS PREMIADOS

Y el Emmy es para ... ¡¡JON HAMM!!

Se que esta ha sido la noche en la que Juego de Tronos ha roto el record que había establecido "The West Wing" (mi serie favorita ever, snif, snif) como serie más galardonada en una misma ceremonia de los emmy, la noche en la que Allison Janney superaba a Ed Asner como el intéprete más premiado en los Emmy o la noche en la que se puso fin al reinado de Modern Family como Mejor Comedia después de cinco victorias consecutivas(vista la última temporada de la serie, uno de las cosas más justas de la noche), pero para mi, el momentazo de la noche ha sido cuando Tina Fey ha anunciado que Jon Hamm, a la octava (su decimsexta nominación total) había ganado por fin el premio a Mejor Actor de Drama haciendo así justicia a Don Draper, uno de los personajes más icónicos de la televisión americana de la última década.

Hay que decir que el pobre Jon Hamm se ha estado tomando sus constantes pérdidas de forma muy deportiva, incluso haciendo bromas acerca de ello (el y mi adorada Amy Poehler, que lamentablemente sigue sin ganar un Emmy, aunque de eso hablaré más tarde, celebraron hace un par de años una fiesta en honor a los perdedores de la ceremonia).

Por eso, si ha habido un premio que me ha hecho ilusión ha sido el suyo. Don Drapper es un absoluto icono de la televisión. Un personaje que ya ha pasado a la historia y hubiera sido una injusticia que no se hubiera recompensado al hombre que le ha dado vida durante los últimos 7 años. Por cierto, soy muy fan de cómo ha subido arrastrándose al escenario. El estaba muy emocionado (y también guapísimo, las cosas como son, pero claro, es que el es guapísimo), con el auditorio puesto en pie y ha dado un discurso muy sentido. Todos sus compañeros de nominación, excepto un Jeff Daniels con cara de vinagre, han reaccionado aplaudiendo a rabiar. Premio muy merecido.

Su victoria ha compensado en parte que, como comentaba antes, Amy Poehler no haya conseguido el premio a Mejor Actriz de Comedia por Parks and Recreation en la última oportunidad que tenía. Me parece super injusto que esa maravilla de personaje que era Leslie Knope se haya quedado sin reconocer. A ver, me gusta Veep y me he alegrado mucho de que haya ganado Mejor Comedia, Mejor Actor Secundario (soy más de Ty Burrell que de Tony Hale pero como él ganó el año pasado y ambos eran mis favoritos en la categoría, pues también me ha gustado que ganara) y Mejor Guión. Pero un  cuarto premio consecutivo para Julia Louis Dreyfus por hacer el mismo papel de siempre (que si, que lo hace muy bien, pero que no ha hecho nada diferente con su Selina en los últimos cuatro años), me ha parecido excesivo.

Pero vamos, en los Emmy o te adoran y te dan premios a espuertas, como le pasa a mi adorada Allison Janney que ya lleva siete y no parece que la cosa se vaya a parar ahí, o te cuesta la vida ganar uno (como a Jon Hamm o a Juego de Tronos en la categoría de Serie Dramática) o directamente pasan de ti y ya te pueden nominar las veces que quieran que no te lo van a dar (Amy Poehler, Hugh Laurie, Martin Sheen, Steve Carell).

Para el año que viene propongo cambiar a Allison Janney de categoría, a ver si así se corta la racha de Julia Louis Dreyffus, aunque el mundo puede implosionar y que no gane ninguna de las dos. Eso si que sería una sorpresa.

Los otros grandes protagonistas de la ceremonia han sido los miembros del  equipo de Juego de Tronos. Reconozco que tengo sensaciones encontradas con la barrida que se ha producido. Por un lado me encanta la  serie y me hace ilusión que haya ganado, pero por otro, soy consciente de que lo ha hecho por su peor temporada (la trama de Dorne ha sido vergüenzajenante en grado sumo) y que los premios a guión y a actor secundario han sido cuanto menos cuestionables.

Soy muy fan de Peter Dinklage y su Tyrion pero este año no se ha merecido su premio. Tyrion no ha hecho demasiado durante la temporada. Aunque claro, si pensamos que el año pasado Dinklage se lo merecía y no se lo dieron pues parecen haber aplicado la ley de la compensación. Eso si, lo que de verdad me parece increible es que, habiendo ganado tantísimos premios, la pobre Lena Headey haya perdido cuando era posiblemente la que más se lo merecía de toda la serie.

En cuanto al resto de premios, pues a ver, Viola Davis me parece una actriz descomunal pero "How to get away with murder" es una serie tan de aquella manera, que no se muy bien qué pensar de que le hayan dado el premio a Mejor Actriz de Drama.

Otra que me genera reacciones encontradas es Uzo Aduba y su premio a Mejor Secundaria en Drama. Parto de la base que a mi "Orange is the new black" es una serie que me gusta regular y que encima tiene una indefinición de género (¿es una comedia? ¿es un drama?) bastante considerable, aunque Crazy Eyes es posiblemente uno de los mejores personajes, pero no se, lo de que Aduba le haya ganado a Lena Headey y a Christina Hendricks, pues es un tanto cuestionable.

En fin, el cambio del sistema de votación nos ha dado unas cuantas sorpresas (agradables y desagradables). Estos premios se han convertido, más que nunca en un concurso de popularidad y en algunos casos ha habido unos premiados un tanto injustos, pero vamos, que si ha ayudado a que Don Drapper sea finalmente reconocido por mi, perfecto. Por lo menos por este año.

GANADORES PREMIOS EMMY 2015

Esta madrugada se ha celebrado en los Angeles la 67 edición de los premios Emmy en la que Juego de Tronos ha arrasado con 12 galardones (incluyendo Mejor Drama, Mejor Guión en Drama, Mejor Dirección en Drama y Mejor Actor Secundario en Drama para Peter Dinklage), Veep ha destronado a Modern Family como Mejor Comedia, Viola Davis ha sido la primera mujer afroamericana en ganar como Mejor Actriz en Drama y Jon Hamm ha ganado por fin el emmy a Mejor Actor en Drama por Mad Men en su octava nominación por interpretar al mítico Don Drapper. Uzo Aduba ha ganado el premio a Mejor Actriz Secundaria en drama por Orange is the new black.

Además Julia Louis Dreyffus ha ganado su cuarto Emmy consecutivo por Veep (con este ya lleva seis premios Emmy en toda su carrera), serie que además de Mejor Comedia también ha ganado el premio al Mejor Guión en Comedia y Mejor Actor Secundario en Comedia para Tony Hale.

Allyson Janney ha ganado su segundo Emmy consecutivo en la categoría de Mejor Actriz Secundaria en Comedia por Mom (es su séptimo Emmy en total), Jeffrey Tambor ha sido coronado como Mejor Actor en Comedia por Transparent, serie que también ganado el premio a Mejor Dirección en Comedia.

En el apartado de Miniserie, Olive Ketteridge ha arrasado con 6 premios, entre ellos Mejor Miniserie, Mejores Actores protagonistas de Miniserie para Frances McDormand y Richard Jenkins y Mejor Actor Secundario en Miniserie para Bill Murray. Regina King ha sido designada como Mejor Actriz Secundaria en Miniserie por American Crime.

Vistos los premios, sin duda la gran triunfadora de la edición ha sido la HBO, que ha conseguido que tres de sus series se alcen con los premios más importantes de la noche (Mejor Drama, Mejor Comedia y Mejor Miniserie).

GANADORES CREATIVE EMMY 2015

Este sábado se entregaron en Los Angeles los Emmys creativos, premios que incluyen todos los premios técnicos, los actores invitados tanto en drama como en comedia, la mayoría de las categorías correspondientes a miniseries..

Esta entrega previa la hacen todos los años para no alargar en exceso (aunque al final siempre terminan siendo más largas que un día sin pan, cosas de entregas de premios, sino que se lo digan a los organizadores de los últimos Goya) la ceremonia principal que tendrá lugar el próximo domingo día 20.

Como se preveía, la gran triunfadora fue "Game of Thrones" que se llevó 8 estatuillas, la siguieron American Horror Story: Freak Show con 5 y el especial del 40 aniversario del Saturday Night Live con cuatro.

Dentro de los premios que se entregaron destaca el mejor reparto en drama que fue para "Game of Thrones", el mejor reparto en Comedia que fue para "Veep" y los actores invitados que en las categorías de comedia fueron para Bradley Whitford (el Josh Lyman de "The West Wing") por "Transparent" y Joan Cusack por "Shameless" y en las categorías de drama para Margo Martindale por "The Americans" (por salir en una única escena, lo que fue uno de los premios más controvertidos) y para Reg E. Cathey por House or Cards).
